Pravin Prakash is a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Organized Hate’s Violence, Extremism, and Radicalization Program (VERP). He focuses on the complex dynamics of autocratization, ethno-religious nationalism, violence, and extremism. Pravin is currently a Doctoral Fellow at the Heidelberg Graduate School for the Humanities and Social Sciences, supported by the prestigious DAAD-GSSP Scholarship. He holds a Master of Social Sciences and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (with honors) in Political Science from the National University of Singapore (NUS).
His professional experience includes a significant role as an Associate Research Fellow at the Centre of Excellence for National Security (CENS) at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. During his time at CENS, Pravin conducted extensive research and policy work on social resilience, radicalization, violence and extremism.
Pravin has over a decade of experience in teaching and lecturing, during which he has designed and delivered courses in political science. At the National University of Singapore (NUS), he tutored and guest lectured modules within the Political Science and South Asian Studies departments. At Heidelberg University, Pravin independently developed and lectured modules on collective violence and extremism, as well as authoritarianism and democratic decline in contemporary politics. In addition to his formal teaching responsibilities, Pravin is frequently invited to speak at seminars and conferences, where he shares his insights with both academic and policy-making audiences.
In addition to his academic and research contributions, Pravin has extensive experience in public policy, and has provided strategic consultation to government agencies and private companies, advising on public policy issues and helping to address complex challenges in these fields. His work continues to influence discussions on multiculturalism, secularism, extremism and violence, and he has actively contributed to training programs and public lectures on these subjects.
A prolific writer, Pravin has published numerous articles and book chapters across various print and digital platforms, contributing to the broader discourse on political violence and extremism.
