While social media platforms have heightened restrictions and scrutiny surrounding political speech online during elections, there is a relative scarcity of knowledge surrounding hate speech and disinformation in the post-election landscape. On the other hand government interventions in regulating content online including the Government of India proposed Broadcasting Bill, have been alleged to be stifling freedom of expression online.

Perspectives in collaboration with Nexus Horizon, a UK-based Trust & Safety Consultancy has organized this panel discussion with an aim to understand how hate-speech and disinformation proliferates online, and how regulations either by platforms or by governments make their impact.
